Become A Nurse Quick- What Everyone Should Know!

Registered Nurses who are legitimate graduates of the nursing degree, may also consider specializing in the nursing career specialties that deal with major emphasis on the disease. There are so many different kinds of diseases that require special care.

As important as nursing care is for the patient, it is only one part of the nurse’s job. The nurse is responsible for maintaining an accurate record on each patient under her care. While many hospitals continue to use pen and paper charting, technology can make the record keeping process less cumbersome.

One side effect of the new technological advancements in healthcare is the increase in jobs related to the field. Before ultrasounds, there was no need for someone trained to perform them. Respiratory therapy, nuclear medicine and many other branches of healthcare have created new jobs by the advancement of technology.

Not all nursing homes cater to long-term geriatric patients. As hospital costs have risen, the trend has been to discharge patients to rehab facilities and convalescent homes rather than keep them in the hospital until they’re ready to go home.

Many employers now provide family friendly work schedules and flexibility, again an indication of demand in such places.

Job prospects for licensed practical nurses, or LPNs, while positive, are not as strong as those of registered nurses. Licensed practical nurses will continue to be in demand, particular in hospital and long term care facilities.

Of course, you must keep in mind that the job requirements are things that you are inclined to perform. A few examples would be service-oriented tasks such as feeding the patient, changing their clothes, helping them take a bath, cleaning up after them and making sure they properly take their medications.

Bedside manner is briefly covered in an accelerated nursing program but it is equally addressed in the traditional school. The nurse who made you feel uneasy was probably unaware of her effect on you. She was just doing her job. The fundamental difference between the good nurse and the bad one is their attitude toward the profession. The first nurse is caring for a person and she recognizes this. The second nurse is just doing her job.
