Low Cost Health Insurance Policy

Family Health Insurance has Many Levels

It can be a challenge to try and understand all of the terms that are in a family health insurance plan, but it is extremely important that it is understood as to what kind of coverage is offered and what kind of services are part of the plan. There are many parts to a family health insurance plan, and understanding what each part is and what it can potentially offer will help each person understand better the health care that can be provided for each family.

Something that almost everyone will experience and will need to understand is a coy-payment. A co-payment is an additional payment owed by the patient to the medical provider after the deductible has been reached. The patient pays a certain set amount and then the insurance company pays the rest.

Generic brands and name brands also have to do with the co-payments. For the most part, generic brand medicines are lower in price.

A deductible is the amount of money that must be paid each policy term before the policy will begin to cover the costs of medical treatment. For example, if a family health insurance policy carries a $200 deductible then the patient will be responsible for all health care costs up to $200. Once the deductible is reached, then the insurance policy will begin to pay for all medical costs minus the co-payment as outlined earlier. The amount of the deductible varies for each family health insurance plan, and it can either be a deductible based on each patient or a deductible based on the entire family.

If you are going outside of your ‘network’ meaning seeing a doctor or going to a hospital or clinic not on the already okayed list from yuor insurance provider you may need a referral or it might not be covered.
