Harmful effects of stress

Stress has been proven to cause all sorts of emotional and physical damage to our bodies. The tension it causes can physically cause illness. Stress breaks down our immune system and speeds our aging. It has even been blamed for excessive wrinkles and rapid graying hair.

It is amazing what kind of an impact it can make on the body. Emotionally it can cause many symptoms. It can make us very moody and impatient. We get easily confused and we become very forgetful. The impacts of stress vary from person to person.

Another thing that has been provenis that stress can lead to is medical conditions. Not many people think about this. Stress can cause headaches, muscle pain and joint aches, high blood pressure, weight problems, stimach issues and even respiratory problems.

It is imporatant to recognize negative stress and how you relate to it. You need to recognize how you handle the stress. You do not want to ignore the red flags of stress and wait until it has caused so much physical and mental damage that it is no longer under control.

Stress is something that we can not always avoid. It is in our everyday lives. We can not hide from it. We deal with it at work and home. We can not control a serious accident or a death in the family , so we must learn productive and positive ways to handle stress like this.

Even though some stressful situations can not be voided we can find ways to deal with the negative stress that will minimize the negative impact stress has on us emotionally and physically. You have to find what works best for you, everyone is different. Maybe yoga, mediation, counseling, support group, breathing techniques or exercise.

Stress comes in many forms, learn to recognize these forms. Your mind can cause stress by causing worry , guilt, defeat, envy and self imposed rules. Stress can be physical, such as working too much, lack of nutrition, exercise or water, excessive drug or alcohol use and eating unhealthy.

Stress has been found to shorten our lives. It can have such an impact on your life that life as you know it changes drastically. It makes you appear older and sicker then you are. The good news is we can take measures to reduce the effects stress has on our physical and mental being.
