When we think of the uninsured in America, we think of all the unemployed people in our society. Most people would be surprised to learn that having a full time job is not necessarily a guarantee of insurance benefits. As more companies are beginning to struggle, they are gradually eliminating health care benefits for their employees. And suddenly now there are increasing numbers of uninsured working Americans making too much money to be eligible for Medicaid, but not making enough to pay for private insurance plans. This is leaving much of the upper lower class, and lower middle class, without insurance and struggling to survive. As the economic situation in this country continues to deteriorate, one can only imagine how the numbers of uninsured Americans are going to rise.
