Patients who do not show up for their medical or dental appointment are an enormous problem for medical all over the world. When patients fail to make it, the health clinic loses money, a lot of money. Some offices have lost in excess of $28,000 all because of patients who did not show up. No one can afford to lose that much revenue. In the past most dental establishments have hired a receptionist who would handle bookings, record keeping, and reminding patients about their appointments. The system was not perfect but it was serviceable. Now, thanks to the internet and improvements in medical software, the receptionist is no longer needed.
