The Ramifcations Of Healthcare
The sphere of medical care and the prevention, intervention and prevention of sickness and disease is collectively known as healthcare. The World Health Organizations definition is a little different and refers more to the prevention of illness and services to promote this, in addition to treatment that should be available to a single individual as well as a whole population. The organized provision of such facilities may constitute a healthcare system.
Early before the phrase healthcare was common, the English speaking countries called it just plain medicine or more usually the health sector but it still meant the provision of a health service to treat and cure sickness and disease. Even in most developing countries there is a form of health care provision for everyone whether they are in a position to pay or not. This first begun in the UK a few years after the end of World War 2 in 1948, and became the first health care service set up and run by a government.
A system second to this, according to The World Health Organization is the one initiated in Italy where a compulsory system of insurance which the administration funds, but at a relatively low cost per individual, is used. Canada and Australia have both started similar systems and have been running since 19.6 and the 1970′s respectively both going by the name of Medicare. The main countries that do not support this universal healthcare service are America and South Africa, although they are making reforms to their health service. people who work in health care include all professionals whose job it is to uphold life, treat and cure illness and try to improve the health of people. The collective expression for this is the health care industry but the word industry may not necessarily be the best one to use.
Over a relatively short period of time, the health care industry has become one of the fastest growing in the world with an average growth rate of just over ten percent of the gross domestic product of many developed nations and is still growing, playing a huge role in the domestic economies of most nations. The United States has seen some of the biggest rises and the figures in 2006 are anticipated to be the same as 2003 with over 15 percent of GDP – it is presently the biggest in the world but the increase by 2016 is expected to be almost 20 percent.
In The USA there are 180 million Americans who want healthcare and a recent study showed that it was the number one worry of those seeking work. The costs of health care in The United States have risen so much that General Motors had considered filing bankruptcy due to the increasing health care costs wearing down its auto manufacturing division. In this instance some hard Union negotiations, compromises and the closing down of their finance arm GMAC meant this action wasn’t needed.
Workers in America place this as their number one priority when looking for a potential employer and often will move to a lower paid position just to better their medical care. The health of the individuals on this planet should be something that is established on prevention rather than cure, a case of being hands-on as apposed to reactive.
